The Aylmer Police are seeking public funding for a RADAR Trailer project. With your support this device will be an effective tool where speeding and dangerous driving is a problem or concern. The speed trailer not only displays a motorists speed it also has analytical software that captures traffic patterns over a period of time. This plan serves multiple purposes. The trailer can be deployed in Community Safety Zones around Aylmer schools warning speeders while our children walk nearby. It can analyze speed in the unbiased absence of a police vehicle over a consistent period of time. Enforcement can occur in conjunction with the device in a problem area with little excuse from the offenders. Statistical analysis will determine efficient deployment of officers for enforcement. The cost is $10,000 and sponsors could attach their logos to the device. Device details available at www.decaturradar.com

Police Memorial Posted in Events 2008-05-01

The Ontario Police Memorial is dedicated to all of the brave police officers in Ontario’s history who have lost their lives in the line of duty. The memorial is made up of a bronze statue of a male and female officer standing atop a large granite pedestal. The names of fallen officers are carved into a granite wall – the Wall of Honour – that stands on each side of the pedestal. The words, “Heroes in Life, Not Death,” are carved on the memorial. This is to recognize that police officers risk their lives, every day, to protect people and neighbourhoods, and deserve the respect and gratitude of the citizens they serve. The Ontario Police Memorial is in a small park at the corner of Queen’s Park Crescent and Grosvenor Street in Toronto. On Sunday, May 4, 2008, police officers, families and friends will gather at the Ontario Police Memorial for the annual Ceremony of Remembrance to honour those that have paid the supreme sacrifice in the performance of their duty. Today, the names of 231 fallen officers in the province are inscribed on the Wall of Honour. SOLVED
