Suspended Driver

On the 18th of August 2021, at 6:00am Aylmer officer conducting stationary radar on John St. N, stopped a 2014 Dodge Caravan for traveling 80km/h in a 50 km/h zone.  Further investigation determined that the 30 yr. old male driver was currently suspended from driving a motor vehicle due to previous unpaid fines.   The male was issued summons to attend Provincial Offences Court charged with Speeding and Driving while under suspension.

Warrant Arrest

On the 19th of August 2021 at 0715 am, Aylmer officers on patrol spotted a suspicious vehicle parked in a lot on Talbot St W.  Attached to the vehicle was a dealer plate that had been previously stolen from a car dealership in St. Thomas.  A 41 yr old male from Bayham was found inside the vehicle sleeping.   Police checks determined that a warrant for arrest existed for this male and he was taken into custody.   Further investigation resulted in recovery of several stolen power tools and equipment, which are linked to break and enters that had occurred in St. Thomas. .

The male was held for a bail hearing and was remanded into custody at the Elgin Middlesex Detention Centre

 

Impaired Driver

On the 23rd of August 2021 at 12:38 am, officers on patrol observed a 2019 Chev pickup travelling on Talbot St E.  The truck pulled in the parking lot of a business that was currently closed.  Officers approached the vehicle which contained 2 occupants.  The driver was spoken to and police detected an odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath and requested the vehicle documents and his drivers licence.   The driver exited the truck and police now observed signs of impairment and placed the driver under arrested for Impaired Operation.  The male was transported to the station for the purpose of conducting breath tests which resulted in the male’s blood alcohol concentration over double the legal limit.  A 32 yr old male from Aylmer was released to a future court date charged with Impaired Operation and Blood alcohol concentration in excess of 80 milligrams.  The vehicle was impounded for (7) days and an immediate 90 driver’s licence suspension has been imposed.
