Stolen Vehicle:

On the 13th of October 2020 at approximately 3:00 pm, Aylmer Police responded to a complaint of a stolen vehicle from an address on Spruce St. Aylmer ON. Police investigation revealed that sometime between 12th of October 12:00 pm and 13th of October 3:00 pm. 2020 unknown persons stole a grey 2011 Mercedes MG3. It is unknown how the culprits gained entry into the vehicle. Police investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Aylmer Police at 519-773-3146 or crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Break and Enter:

On the 13th of October 2020, at approximately 4:16 pm. Aylmer Police responded to an attempt break and enter at the Aylmer Curling club situated at 139 Pine St. Aylmer ON. Police investigation revealed that on 13th of October 2020 at approximately 2:30 am. unknown person attempted to gain entry into the building by prying open the man door in the alcove on the south side of the building. Video surveillance captured a male on the bicycle wearing a hoodie and carrying a black backpack. This is a second attempt at an entry into the curling club. Police investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to call the Aylmer Police at 519-773-3146 or crime stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.

Possession of Break in instruments and Failure to comply with release order charge:

On 14th of October 2020 at approximately 3:10 am., officers on patrol located a male riding a bicycle on Victoria St. Aylmer ON. Male was spoken to regarding Highway traffic act infractions and upon further investigation, officer discovered that the male was on release conditions with a 24-hour curfew that he was breaching. The male was also in possession of break in instruments that included; bolt cutters, flashlights , vice grip, screw driver, Allen key set, flashlight and gloves. As a result, 47-year-old male from Aylmer was charged with possession of break-in instruments and failure to comply with release order. He was held in custody.

RIDE check results in 3-day suspension:

On 16th of October 2020 at approximately 8:52 pm. Aylmer Police officers conducted a RIDE check on Talbot St. Aylmer ON. A 28-year-old female from Dorchester was operating a 2013 Hyundai as she entered the RIDE check. Odour of alcoholic beverage was detected on her breath and as a result, a roadside breath sample was obtained resulting in a “WARN” reading. Her license was subsequently suspended for 3 days.

Drive over 80 mgs.

On the 16th of October, 2020 at approximately 11:34 pm. officer was on patrol on John St. South Aylmer ON. Officer observed and stopped a 2019 GMC pick up on Talbot St. West. He spoke to the driver and administered a roadside screening test resulting ion “FAIL” reading. As a result, male was arrested and transported to the station for further breath tests that resulted in readings nearly twice the legal limit. 19 year old male from Springfield was subsequently charged with Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Novice Driver – BAC above 0 charge:

On the 17th of October 2020 at approximately 10:18 pm. officer on patrol on Talbot St. East Aylmer ON stopped a 2019 Dodge Ram pick up for a highway traffic act offence. While speaking to the driver, officer noticed a blue plastic solo cup with a dark liquid inside. Officer suspected that the cup contained alcohol and investigated further, smelling the contents. The contents smelled strongly of an alcoholic beverage. The driver also had an odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath and as a result, a roadside breath demand was read. Driver provided a sample and registered a “WARN”. 21-year-old male driver from Malahide was a novice driver and he was subsequently charged with Novice Driver – BAC above 0 and having care or control of motor vehicle with liquor readily available. His license was suspended for 7 days.

Refusal to provide breath sample:

On 17th of October 2020, at approximately 10:39 pm., officer was conducting radar enforcement on Talbot St. E Aylmer ON when he clocked a 2006 Chev Pick up travelling 70 km/hr in posted 50 km/hr zone. While speaking to the driver, officer noticed an odour alcoholic beverage and cannabis marijuana odour emanating from inside the vehicle. Officer administered a roadside breath sample test resulting in a “FAIL” reading. Further, search of the vehicle resulted in seizure of zip lock bag containing cannabis marijuana. Male was arrested and transported to the station for further tests. He failed to provide suitable samples of his breath. As a result, 28-year-old male from Delhi was charged with Failure or refusal to comply with demand, Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available and speeding.
