Domestic Assault

On December 22^nd, 2021 Aylmer Police entered into a domestic assault investigation that took place during the week of December 11^th.   A 50 yr. old female disclosed an assault committed by her 48 yr old male spouse.   Investigation determined that the female suffered an assault as well as a sexual assault within the couple’s apartment.

Police were able to locate the 48 yr. old Aylmer male and took him into custody.  The male stands charged with one count of Sexual assault causing bodily harm.  The female had been treated at hospital for her injuries and released.

** Update** Porch Pirate Theft – Arrest made

On December 22^nd 2021, Aylmer Police located the male wanted for this theft occurrence and took him into custody.  The 39 yr. old Aylmer male was held for a bail hearing scheduled for Dec 23^rd.

On December 14th, 2021 police attended to a downtown condominium building, where the property manager was reporting the theft of an Amazon package and various pieces of mail.  Building CCTV video was reviewed and the suspect was identified by police as a 39 year old Aylmer male.  All items have been recovered and returned and police now hold a warrant for the arrest of the male.

Stunt Drive

December 23^rd, 2021 at 11:50 am, an Aylmer officer on patrol was travelling on Glencolin Line, when a 2000 GMC Sierra was approaching at a high rate of speed.  The police cruiser mobile radar was activated and timed the motor vehicle travelling at 135 km/h within a posted 80 km/h zone.  A 17yr old male from St. Thomas was operating this motor vehicle and now stands charged with one count of Stunt Driving.   The male’s licence has been suspended and the vehicle impounded for a period of 14 days.

Prohibited Driver 45 day impound

On December 26^th, 2021, officer on patrol stopped at 2016 Nissan Versa on Talbot St, for a moving violation.  Investigation determined the 26 year old male driving the Nissan was currently prohibited from operating any motor vehicle due to previous conviction of impaired operation.  As a result the male was arrested and released with a January court date for Operation while prohibited.  The vehicle was subject to a 45 day impoundment.

Motor Vehicle Collision:   

On 29^th of November 2021, at approximately 2:50 pm., Aylmer Police investigated a motor vehicle collision that occurred on Dingle St. Aylmer ON. Police investigation revealed that a 2019 Kia being driven by a 35 year old female from Port Burwell was stopped facing east bound on Dingle St. A 2004 Honda being driven by a 40 year old female from Springfield backed out from a private driveway and struck the Kia that was stopped on the roadway. As a result, female was charged with Fail to yield from driveway. Both vehicles sustained minor damage.

Theft under charge;

On the 1st of December 2021, at 3:18 pm., Aylmer Police attended local business on John St. North Aylmer ON., for a report of theft. Investigation revealed that on 30^th of November 2021, between 4:55 pm. and 5:05 pm., a male and female attended the store and placed merchandise valued at approximately $900.00 into a shopping cart. Suspects then concealed the merchandise and walked out of the store without paying for them. 31 year old female from Aylmer was identified to be involved and she was charged with; Theft under $5000.00, Possession of stolen property under $5000.00 and Trafficking in property obtained by crime. Police are continuing the investigation.

Impaired driving;

On 4^th of December 2021, at approximately 2:58 am., Aylmer Police responded to a address on John St. South Aylmer ON., for a report of a suspicious vehicle at a residence. Upon arrival, officers located an Infinity with a male and a female occupant inside. Officer spoke to the male driver and detected a strong odour of alcoholic beverage on his breath. A roadside test was administered resulting in a “fail” reading. Further tests at the station resulted in readings over 80 mgs. Of alcohol in 100 ml. of blood. As a result, 46 year old male from Aylmer was charged with; operation while impaired, contrary to section 320.14(1)(a) of the criminal code and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus), contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the criminal code.

RIDE checks;

During the week of 30^th of November and 6^th of December 2021, Aylmer Police conducted 5 RIDE checks throughout Aylmer community resulting in 1721 drivers being checked for sobriety. Total of 101 roadside tests were administered resulting in 97 drivers with 0% readings and 4 drivers below warn range. Officers issued 2 Highway traffic act violations and issued 1 warning.
